Intro to Medical Careers

Will only be offered to 10th-11th graders as it is a prerequisite for other Health Care courses only.
12th graders who may be entering the 18-21 program will be considered as well.
Description:
This course is an introduction to health science and health careers, and is a recommended prerequisite for all of our health classes. In this course students will learn the basics of human body systems, learn medical terminology and achieve their AHA BLS CPR certification. This course will allow for students to learn the foundational skills, and knowledge to be successful in future medical classes. This includes Medical terminology, and Intro to Health Careers through the Community College of Denver.
Specific Success Criteria
Students will be enrolled in two CE courses throughout the year of this program.
Skills needed for Success: memorization, willingness to work in groups, willingness to study outside of class time, and willingness to engage in dissections and other lab based activities.
Exams or quiz every other week
Students will need to pass a a lab safety test in order to be in class
Program Length: Two semesters

AM: 8:20-10:35 AM
PM: 1:15-3:30
Related Careers: Nursing, Pharmacy tech, Athletic Training, EMT, ETC.
