Who

Parents, guardians, and caregivers who want to:

Get more involved in their child’s education
Build their leadership skills
Be recognized and celebrated for their time
Potentially step into a leadership role

The program is designed to be accessible and encouraging for all families—offering flexible, meaningful ways to participate at school, in the community, and at home.

What

The Family Leadership Badge Program is a fun and flexible way for families to get more involved in their child’s school, build leadership skills, and be recognized for their impact.

By completing activities across four key areas—school involvement, leadership learning, community support, and storytelling—families earn badge hours and unlock special rewards.

As families progress, they can earn certificates, be featured in newsletters, and even qualify for paid leadership opportunities as Empowerment Ambassadors.

Why

We know that when families are actively involved and empowered as leaders in their children’s education, students thrive, schools grow stronger, and communities become more connected.

This program encourages families to build leadership skills, deepen their engagement, and share their voices—so together we can create supportive school environments where every child can succeed.

It’s about recognizing and celebrating the vital role families play and providing fun, meaningful ways to make a real impact.

Criteria

To earn your Family Leadership Badge hours, we ask that families complete at least one activity from each of the four categories:

After that, you're welcome to repeat activities or choose more from any category. The goal is to help you grow in different ways as a leader while having fun and making an impact!

Get Involved at School:

Volunteer at a school event or classroom activity
Help organize a school fundraiser or family night
Join a school committee , Parent-Teacher Association, or Advisory Council

Learn & Grow as a Leader

Join a virtual FACE University event
Attend an in-person Family Leadership Program or event

Support Your Community

Help your school recruit families for leadership programs
Co-lead or support a family leadership event at your school or library
Advocate for family or student needs at a school board meeting

Share Your Story

Post on social media about what you learned from a FACE U video or training
Submit a short video, picture, or written testimonial about our programs

Badges

Earn badges as you get more involved! Each badge shows the time you’ve put in and the difference you’re making. Families who complete the program can become Empowerment Ambassadors—a special paid opportunity to help lead family programs at school. Plus, you’ll get fun monthly challenges to earn hours faster and discover new ways to stay connected and make an impact.
